Job Requirements:

·       Adhere to all guidelines, policies and procedures of the station, Clear Channel Communications, Inc., the FCC and all other federal, state and local laws.

·       Adequate preparation for shift

·       Consummate call screener

·       Web design savvy

·       Ability to book guests and execute performance thereof

·       Well organized in ability to research topics and partake in show prep

·       Extensive knowledge of audio editing

·       Daily early morning on-air broadcasts

·       Ability to think clearly under pressure situations

·       Must be extremely personable and able to take direction well with commitment and attention to detail in every aspect of position

·       Three years experience in broadcast radio.

·       Experience in live video production

·       Knowledge of all FCC rules and regulations.

·       Applicants must possess a strong work ethic, be well-read, punctual, and be a team player

·       Be able to be creative with callers and work with co-hosts

·       Applicants must be early risers to be alert and prepared for early morning air shift

The current openings are listed below – for more info check out the full position descriptions on the Wackerle Track.

 

1)  Women’s Opportunity Network Coordinator – This person would be responsible for event planning for the Spring Women’s Lifestyles Fair as well as a luncheon and after hours networking event.

2)  Hispanic Health Journalist – This person would have write and translate for the Hispanic Health Newsletter – the person would preferably be a native speaker or someone with a very strong Spanish grammar and writing skills

3)  Hispanic Health Newsletter Editor – person responsible for compiling the newsletter – designing the layout – finding appropriate pictures and suggesting content. Etc – This person would preferably have some Spanish knowledge (does not need total fluency).

4)  Hispanic Health Marketing Coordinator – person would be responsible for selling ads and helping with ad layout etc.  It would be preferable for this person to know some Spanish but is not required.

5)  The Western Illinois Economic Development Partnership has some opportunities in the communications/marketing fields – this isn’t listed on Wackerle Track yet but interested students can contact Jolene Willis at 309-734-4253

6)  The University of Illinois Extension is looking for a bilingual person to be a VISTA Volunteer for one year.  VISTAs receive a modest living allowance and health insurance – at the end of the year they receive an education award for $4725 that can be used to pay student loans or future tuition. This person would work on outreach to the Hispanic Community.  For more info students can contact me or Al Kulczewski at U of I Extension (309-734-5161)  -- This would be an ideal position for a recent graduate who wants to get some real world experience to put on their resume.

Master of Fine Arts program in Television, Film and Theatre (TVFT), beginning Fall 08.

The MFA in TVFT is an interdisciplinary degree program offered jointly by the Departments of Communication Studies and Theatre Arts and Dance. Drawing on the strengths of faculty in Television, Film, Media Studies and Theatre Arts, the MFA in TVFT seeks to define and promote a new generation of artists who are capable of working across the traditional boundaries of television, film and theatre to combine innovative art practice with leading edge, technical knowledge. With the unique resources of Los Angeles providing an ideal environment for study, the M.F.A. offers three Options: Performance/Acting, Production, and Dramatic Writing. Applicants should demonstrate their potential to succeed in a rigorous, hybrid, creative/critical environment and an interest in exploring new directions in creative practice. Speech Communication Department at Minnesota State University, Mankato

Graduate Teaching Assistantships for the 2008-2009 academic year

Seniors

 

Graduate Teaching Assistants at Mankato receive a stipend of not less than $9000.00 and full tuition waiver for 9 credits per semester. Graduate Teaching Assistants will teach up to two sections of the basic hybrid communication course each semester, or may also teach sections of public speaking. Applicants may also apply to serve as graduate forensic assistants, splitting time between teaching and working with the nationally ranked forensics program at Mankato.

Applicants must enroll for a minimum of 6 credits per semester. All applicants must have completed their bachelor's degree prior to the start of fall semester. Admission to the graduate program is based on undergraduate GPA, letters of recommendation, and a writing sample. Minimum requirements for admission are an overall GPA of 2.75, with a 3.0 GPA for the last two years of undergraduate study. Applicants not meeting the minumum requirements may apply for probationary admission.

The Master of Arts in Communication program at Villanova University

Graduate Assistantships and Tuition Scholars for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Senoirs

 

Graduate assistants receive a stipend of approximately $12,000 and full tuition for the academic year in exchange for 20 hours of research assistance each week. Tuition scholars receive full tuition scholarships in exchange for 7 hours of work in the department each week. Completed applications for these funded positions are due no later than February 15 and may be submitted online through Villanova University's Graduate Studies website: http://www.villanova.edu/artsci/college/academics/graduate/admission
