Announcing New Course Prefixes for CATA Those who have registered for courses in Communication and Theatre Arts are familiar with our course prefix - "CATA." However, with the arrival of the new, stand-alone Theatre Major, some changes are occurring in how we list our courses. The "CATA" course prefix will no longer be used and CATA will become solely an abbreviation for our department name. Courses you may have registered for last spring will have a new prefix: "COMM" for courses in Communication and Media, "THEA" for courses in Theatre. In most cases the course number and name will be the same as it was in the past. This change will have no effect on your credits, major requirements, pre-reqs, or anything else. In the case of a couple of THEA courses, a name and number change has occurred to adjust for the new major. For example, CATA 277 - "Children's Theatre and Creative Dramatics" will become two courses with separate numbers, THEA 279 - Creative Dramatics (taught this fall) and THEA 277 - "Children's Theatre" (taught next year). There will also be some changes in the course name or number for Scenery and Lighting Design and for Advanced Acting courses. These changes will not have any effect on anyone's progress toward their degree. If you have questions, contact Professor Lee McGaan, CATA Chair, or your advisor |
