Research and Teaching Assistantships,
Angelo State University: 2012

The Master of Arts in Communication program at Angelo State University is pleased to announce opportunities for students interested in working as research and teaching assistants, while pursuing a masters degree in communication.  We offer a 36 semester hour program with a wide range of options for students who are interested in advancing in leadership, management, performance studies, and media & cultural studies, or who aspire to enroll in a doctoral program. Students may elect to take an Applied Non-Thesis Track or a Thesis Track.  In addition to research and teaching assistantships, we also have scholarship opportunities for the performance group Studio One.  Studio One is a undergraduate/graduate performance troupe that performs a variety of shows in and around the Angelo State community.

The overall mission of the graduate program is shaped by our relationship with the community in West Texas.  We foster the graduate experience with applied scholarship and community engagement. We are dedicated to providing a high quality experience for our students that will help them grow as scholars, citizens, and professionals. We offer a well-rounded, comprehensive program with course work in research methods, intercultural, interpersonal and nonverbal communication, media & cultural studies, performance studies, and more.  We have a strong and active faculty with active research agendas and whom have leadership roles in state, regional and national communication associations.

Angelo State University, a member of the Texas Tech University System, is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) that delivers undergraduate and graduate programs in the liberal arts, sciences, and professional disciplines. In a learning-centered environment distinguished by its integration of teaching, research, creative endeavor, service, and co-curricular experiences, ASU prepares students to be responsible citizens and to have productive careers.  Situated in the heart of Texas on a 268-acre campus, Angelo State was recognized by The Princeton Review as "Among the Best Colleges" for 2011, has several nationally recognized degree programs, and an award winning faculty. With 100,000 people in the immediate San Angelo area, students enjoy a vibrant downtown, active live music scene, cultural activities, live sporting events, and a variety of outdoor activities.  Angelo State's central location also provides students easy access to larger metropolitan cities and multiple national and state parks.
