The year 1997/1998 was great for Monmouth College and Alpha Xi Delta.  We, as the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta, came back to Monmouth College in the fall of 1997.  Cassie Barnhardt was the Educational Leadership Consultant for the women joining the Beta Epsilon colony.

New Member Recruitment began for Alpha Xi Delta on September 8, 1997.  There were many women interested, and the recruitment events included meetings with Cassie and alumni.  On Friday, September 12, open bids were given out by surprise to all.  Fifty women pledged on Saturday, September 13.

On the 17th and 18th of October, Alpha Xi Delta participated in it's first homecoming.  The spirit shout was Friday night at the bonfire and Saturday was the parade.  Our float took third place!

The month of November was fun.  The first week was our Twin Sisters' week.  Since we couldn't have Big Sis's we made families.  There were about 5-7 women in each family.  The whole week was filled with fun, gifts, and surprises.  We found out who our Twin Sis by popping a balloon with our family name on a piece of paper.

On November 21 we had pre-initiation with sisterhood activities after.  Then on the 22, we had initiation and signing of the charter in Faith Presbyterian Church of Monmouth.  Saturday night we had a celebration banquet at the Monmouth Country Club with the president of Alpha Xi Delta, Kim Starr Serio.  Our installation of officers was on Sunday, November 23.
