WHOM WHOM was an organization of professional historians and archivists that existed to promote both the study of the history of women and the interests of women in all fields of history. Among other things, the Minnesota-based WHOM published a newsletter, sponsored panels and receptions at regional conferences, and awarded prizes for the best women’s history projects in Minnesota and North Dakota state History Day competitions. The organization began with potluck meetings in members’ homes and grew to a network of women historians and historians of women. In 2001 WHOM morphed into WGHOM (Women’s and Gender Historians of the Midwest), with a new group of organizers, but with many of the same goals. The WHOM collection at Monmouth College contains the official archives of WHOM. It will be augmented with documents from WGHOM. Donations, especially recollections of any sort, are encouraged!
