My Brothers & Friends, With the academic year now in full gear, we must pause to see what the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at Monmouth College is working on: Brothers of the Fraternity are currently very involved on campus. We have members in various varsity and intramural sports, honors organizations, radio, television, and the student newspaper. Not only are we involved in other organizations, but we are also top leaders in many of them. Brother Dan Campione was recently elected as the new president of the Interfraternity Council, as well as being the captain of the varsity swim team, while Brother Erik Hoffer is the president of the Mortar Board and Order of Omega honor societies. Recently brothers participated in a philanthropic event in Peoria. Teaming up with the Pi Beta Phi Sorority from Bradley University, we helped prepare and serve food at a Lobster Boil at the Hult Health Education Center. The event is a benefit for the education center and helps pay for various programs. We have been fortunate enough to help out at the event for the past four years thanks to alumni Jay Edmonds, father of Brother Zak Edmonds, and family. We look to continue this as our annual philanthropic event in future years. Also as we have done in previous years, we are collecting aluminum can tabs that will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House and help support its medical efforts. Many other philanthropies are also in the works for the year as well, such as implementing a recycling program to raise money for the chapter and to donate to charities. We welcome any new ideas and are also looking for more work!
Our chapter
is currently in the process of rejuvenating our
interactions and involvement with sororities as we have
planned to have dinners with each sorority's leaders.
We will be inviting the presidents, vice presidents,
philanthropy chairs, and social chairs. The goal
of the dinners will be to brainstorm ideas for the year
and get started off on the right foot with each
sorority. After having talked with the presidents
I know that the women are excited to begin events with
us. Whether you are a freshman, transfer student, parent, or alumni, and you have any questions regarding Alpha Tau Omega, Greek Life, or Monmouth College, please do not hesitate to contact me at ehoffer@monm.edu.
Fraternally,
Erik Hoffer
