Welcome to
Communication Studies!
The Communication Studies major stresses general knowledge of the field and development of the skills that lead to effective personal and professional application of knowledge. In addition to coursework, internships and practical experience in the major field, the Communication student will learn the interrelationship of elements involved in all successful communication exchanges-- e.g., audience analysis, message content, delivery options/medium and context. COMM majors may work in business and organizational leadership, public relations, in journalism or radio and television, in corporate training, in education, (to name only a few career opportunities); all of these involve the need to understand and develop useful communication strategies. The Communication Studies Department Learning Outcome Statement describes the knowledge and skills students majoring in Communication develop by the time they complete our program.
