My name is Evan Green.

In “The Baltimore Waltz” I play a French man, a German man, and a British man. It looks to me like I have a lot of research to do. I plan on watching a ton of James Bond movies for the British, some WWII movies for German, and anything with Peter Sellers for the Frenchmen. In about 2 or 3 weeks if you catch me around campus speaking in a different accent, don’t worry, I’m just rehearsing.  I have been involved in theatre since the summer between my freshmen and sophomore year of high school. I played the role of Audrey II in “Little Shop of Horrors”. Audrey II was a giant puppet whose voice was done by an actor offstage. Meaning I had to memorize all of the other characters lines and blocking so I knew when and where to look, or react with the puppet. The puppet was built in a way that didn’t allow me to see out of it. Audrey II was one of my favorite roles, as well as Boris Kolenkhov in “You Can’t take it with You”. Kolenkhov was a Russian ballet instructor, so as you can image, it was quite a hilarious role.     Kolenkhov was the first role that actually involved me using an entirely different accent. The accent was hard to grasp at first, but as the show went along I picked it up and used it everywhere so I could get it down perfect. School, home, work, church, everywhere, I was Boris, there was no Evan Green.

Blog - 2 - Week 2

What a week. I must say, moving up from community and high school theatre is quite a step. I never thought theatre could become so intense. Janeve has pushed us (me at least) to new bounds within our acting abilities. I am discovering actions and movements to use on stage, that I have never done before.

I am doing things in a show, that I have never done on stage before. Things such as sex, and I will leave it at that.

It has been so much fun with this cast, one of the best I've ever been in, we are all becoming; if we werent already; good friends. When you have such a small cast, it is easy to bond with everyone, you're kind of forced to, and that is what makes it great.

Until next time,

Evan Green

Blog - 3 - Week 3

Another week of rehearsals has gone by, and let me tell you, talk about intense. Its been a very productive week down in the WIT. Its great, watching everyone's characters develop further and further. West's style of method acting is deep and is really bringing these characters to life.

We blocked one of the sex scenes this week, and it was hilarious, Missy would probably disagree, but ignore her, its hilarious!

Blog - 4 - Week 4

AH! Off book, first half of show! AH! What fun it is to interrupt yourself by saying "line" you have to love it. My confidence isnt the greatest right now, but I should have my lines down by the end of the week. My opening monologue as the Garcon is really throwing me, but I'm gettig better.

Even better news, is that next week the entire show should be memorized, we are all so excited... : P

The show is going to be great, everyone should come!

Blog - 5 - Week 5

Good News! Its been a great week for rehearsals. I found the Garcon, I have nailed who I want him to be. It will be glorious. Its getting close to showtime and we are all on the verge of having our characters down perfect. I really shouldnt add anymore to this blog, I should be studying my lines, eh West?
