10/23

Greetings readers!! My name is Lauren Kelley and I am the assistant stage manager for the Baltimore Waltz. It's about a week and a half before opening night and we're all getting a bit anxious. Rehearsals are going well, and our new addition, Brandon, is picking up things quickly and working very hard. As far as stage managing goes, well it's not been bad...yet. No I'm just kidding, but seriously I am enjoying it very much. It's an amazing experience to work under our director, Janeve. From time to time she will be working with the actors on blocking or character, and she'll come up to me and ask if I see the picture she was trying to create with the blocking or how the actor changed the character with her direction, and I can. It's really amazing. I've learned so much already. I've also slowly realized that everything she says or does is for a purpose. Every word or action is planned like 10 steps ahead of me. I see it all fall into place later, and it takes me by surprise. I think it'll be a long time before I can be that well thought out from day to day. But apart from what I've learned, we've had a lot of fun. Between the jokes in the play and poking fun at each other...well lets just say it's been a really good time. Well, that's all for now folks. I'll catch you up closer to the show date, if I have time. haha
