(Click on any photo to see a larger version of it.)
DAY ONE: HALIFAX, Sunday, June 21
Stuck in Halifax when Ginny's luggage got delayed, we spent the first day of summer in the rain visiting Pier 21 and a Brewery in downtown Halifax. We had lunch at the brewery's Red Stag Tavern.

We picked up Ginny's suitcase at the airport and hit the road for Cheticamp.

DAY FIVE: CHETICAMP TO TRURO, Thursday, June 25
Beach at Lake Wildflowers at Lake Ainsley The sun came out at Melmerby Beach
Ainsley, in fog. where we had lunch, near New Glasgow.
We arrived at the Palliser Motel in Truro and wondered what people seemed to be
watching on the Salmon River. It turned out we were JUST IN TIME to witness the
Tidal Bore, created by the rising tide being funneled into a narrow space. The sequence of
photos below was taken in the space of 2 to 3 minutes. The water was moving FAST.
After watching the tidal bore, we did laundry, and
encountered this rainbow and wildflowers (lupine)
on the way back to our room. In the grass by the road we also saw a pheasant!
DAY SIX: PARRSBORO & CAPE D'OR LIGHTHOUSE, Friday, June 26
Folks
in Nova Scotia have a great sense of humor. These "creatures" were on the
city lake in Parrsboro.
The brochures said one could walk around this rocky peninsula and pick up amythests and other gem stones
when the tide was out. We hunted for two-and-a-half hours, found some nice rocks, but no gems--and it was HOT.
Flowers on the way to Cape D'Or.
Cape D'Or--more fog...and definitely cooler than Parrsboro.
