STUDENT CHAPLAINS RETREAT AT
ROCK ISLAND, IL - SEPTEMBER 6, 2008
The view (above) of the monastery reflected in the lake was taken on our afternoon walk. The lake was built to provide a geothermal heating and cooling system for the monastery.
This is the chapel where we attended Lauds at 9 a.m. to begin our day.
Most of our time was spent at the Benet House Retreat Center (the green roof to
the left of the monastery in the first photo on this page). This picture
shows the entryway. The meeting room is behind where I was standing to
take the photo.
We exchanged our ideas about God by writing them on paper, crushing the paper into
"snowballs," and...well, you can see the result!
After lunch, we took a walk down to the lake where a monarch butterfly welcomed us.
