Tying together Forensic Science to the theme of our class.

The title of our class is Biotechnology and Human values.  This class is classified as an Issues course, so obviously we are going to look at issues in Biotechnology and Human Values.  Forensic Science deals very much  with biotechnology.  Forensic Science deals very much with DNA, and as we have learned, so do many other things in the world of Biotechnology.  The first couple of weeks of class we covered the makeup of DNA and why our DNA is important.  Our DNA makes up who we are.  If our DNA is found at a crime scene it can be used to find out who we are.  This is the job of the Forensic Scientists is to find out who it is and to analyze every other piece of evidence at a crime scene.  Human Values is the second part of the title of our class and this can be tied with Forensic Science because we must look at human values before we can decide how far we can go into people's personal life's and how far we can go without stepping on people's toes when we are looking into their identity and how easily their information can found about them.  We also look at the ethical guidelines that Forensic Scientists are required to follow and this is to make sure that we are not stepping on any one's toes and that our Forensic Scientists are doing their jobs without corruption.
