Comparison
I would have to compare my project to Tom’s presentation of the OB gene. Americans today cares a great deal about what their body looks like. Image is at the top of just about everyone’s list as far as priorities. Improving the health of people would benefit America because it would cut down on health care costs and insurance.
Similarities
One similarity is that these cures can only help a small percentage. The OB gene is only found in 3 % of the people that are obese. The HGH oral spays can help around 5-10 % of the people. This two miracle cures can help but the chances of it helping you are very minuscule. People that are obese need to remember that exercise will help fight the disease of obesity.
Another similarity is the high demand for these products. Americans want to find the easy way out of everything. People would like to think that they have the OB gene and that is what causes them to be fat. People would also like to blame their metabolism to why they are obese. Therefore, there is a very high demand to fixing the problem of obesity. People will pay big bucks to cure this problem because obesity can cause self image problems and depression.
Obesity is a enormous problem in the United States. Americans want to find a way to reduce body fat with little amounts of effort. The OB gene would help reduce fat in obese people but only in a small percentage. HGH does the same. It will speed up the body's ability to burn fat. The HGH injections will also only benefit a small percentage.
Researchers are spending billions of dollars to try and put an end to obesity. With HGH injections and surgery on the OB gene, people have a chance of putting an end to obesity. Therefore, there is an abundant amount of money that can be made if this type of technology can work for a higher percentage. People already spend billions of dollars on cosmetic surgery to help their appearance and now masses of people want to spend their money on curing their obesity.
Differences
One difference is that the price of HGH is some what affordable. People can buy pills off the internet from anywhere from $50-300. To get your genes mapped and genetically engineered would be very expensive.
Another difference is there is more attention being put on the OB gene. Researchers are spending more time and effect with the OB gene because they could be the miracle cure for so many. The HGH growth use is used by a very smaller scale of people. People don't normally think of using HGH when losing weight. It is used by the more informed people that are involved in athletics.
