What is a
Sport Supplement?
A sport supplement is a product taken to aid in some facet of an
athletes training and or performance in a given activity. These
supplements can also be called dietary supplements. A dietary supplement
is a product that contains nutrients in large amounts for use in reversing
a know nutritional deficiency. The efficacy of using the supplements
correctly has been acknowledged by exercise physiologists and sports nutrition
experts.
-Sports supplements are known to be ergogenic aids meaning that they can
increase the potential for work in other words they can increase an athletes
ability to work.
How
widespread is the use of supplements today?
-Supplements can be bought from nearly any stores including: health
food stores,
grocery stores, pharmacies, and by mail.
-Athletes use supplements 40% more than non athletes.
-Professional athletes have an average use of over 60% whereas college athletes
had an average use of 43%.
-Supplement use is most prevalent in sports requiring weight lifting and
bodybuilding.
-Supplements sales per year has increased from $3.3 billion in 1990 to over $7.5
billion in 2002.
-Anyone that has access to a store can get sport supplements as long as they can
afford them.
-New companies and industries have exploded in the last couple of decades.
The leading Company today is called

Why do

There are four main "categories" of sport supplements: 1. Fat Loss, 2.
