Directions: Provide some significant information about each of the places in Part I. Relate each place to a specific events, characters or activities related to Africa in the ancient world. Be sure to explain what this information adds to our knowledge Africa in the ancient world.

Here are some examples of appropriate answers:
Alexandria: This city founded by Alexander the Great became the capital of Ptolemaic Egypt.
Thera: This island in the Aegean Sea was destroyed by a volanic eruption in the middle of the second millennium B.C. The art of this island shows strong evidence of contact with Africa.
