Monmouth College Theater - Fall Opening Meeting

Student Sign in- filled out interest surveys about interest towards possible workshops, also signed up to get more information on different aspects of theatre (i.e. Acting, Tech, Makeup, Box Office, etc.)

Brief Discussion of Auditions- Baltimore Waltz- Mon 3rd/Wed 5th 7-10 pm;
Christmas Carol Tues 4th / Wed 5th 7-10 pm, Tues 4th 3:30-5:30
Discussion of Buchannan Arts Center/Christmas Carol- is open to the town as well…so you will have old people and youngsters auditioning too!
Introduce student director-Sara Youngs (Sr.) will be directing “Death and the Maiden” in February
Auditions in November for Death and the Maiden
Call for Stage managers- Stage Managers needed for “Baltimore Waltz” and “Death and the Maiden”- contact Janeve West and Sara Youngs
Talent Scholarship Winners- horray for those of you in attendance at the meeting; rules apply for winners, thirty (30) hours minimum to keep the scholarship

Everyone who participates in theatre and who wants to be involved with Crimson Masque is automatically a member. When you get 5 points, you are considered a voting member. If you have 20 points, you are considered a key member and will be heavily considered for Alpha Tsi Omega Honor Society.
How do you get points? Get involved with Crimson Masque and Theatre shows at Monmouth! You can get points from construction to acting to tech to makeup!
Meetings- Every other Wednesday @ 5:00 p.m. in the Private Dining Room in Stockdale(Hallway to the left before the cafeteria) starting September 12th!
Goals- to provide a more organized group, more activities at meetings and a more structured meeting schedule
· Alpha Psi Omega – Theatre Honor Society- Only three members for now at Monmouth L
§ New ones will be inducted this semester to help this society get off its feet
§ To be inducted, you must be very involved in theatre
§ As a member, you need to participate and help with every faculty-directed show in some way.
Fall Semester Showcase –
· ACTF- College Theatre Fest- Many theatre workshops, plays and fun with theatre geeks!
· Acting – Kayt Drost- participated in ACTF as a freshman competing for the Irene Ryan’s and had a blast!
· Many competitions for everything from Tech to Makeup to Design- questions should be directed to Professor Rankin
· Irene Ryans- nomination for each show chosen to be evaluated; two actors/actresses chosen to compete at ACTF for each show judged
Baltimore Waltz and ACTF – Baltimore Waltz will be competing for a spot to compete with their show at ACTF
Associate Entry with 3 actors qualifying to participate in Irene Ryans.
Fall Night of Scenes- will be coming up in December; showcase for ACTF people to practice with audience, beginning acting class for extra credit, Scotspeak! will be performing, also if you have anything you would like to perform or read (such as a script you are writing in your dorm room) you will be able to perform, more details to follow, questions directed to Janeve West.
· Basic overview of Independent Studies and Internships- if there is a show you would like to direct or Indepependant Study(directing/dramaturgy), especially CATA Majors- see Doug, Bill or Janeve

Perhaps: Student involvement, accountability of the scholarship students.
Support of the point system with points toward ACTF, shows, etc.
Earn Credit for the Semester with Theatre
Tech Needs: waitlist yourself for
CATA118 Workshop for publicity, fundraising, etc.
Set Construction occurs during the week from 1-5 in the Wells Theatre to satisfy Credit for workshop
Acting: If you make a show, you can sign up to be in CATA117 for credit
For those who have taken workshops previous, can sign up for the advanced workshop for 2 credits instead of 1
These are graded workshops! No more Credit/No Credit…only A’s are acceptable to Professor Rankin
