Teaching Certificates Offered at Monmouth College

Elementary Teaching Certificate K-9 

Areas of Concentration - 24 additional semester hours of coursework:
     English/Language Arts                  Science          
     Foreign Language                         Social Science  
     Mathematics                                Speech/Theatre  
     Music                                          Visual Arts

You will be certified to teach in grades K-9 without TEDP351 and TEDP352, the middle school courses; however, we strongly recommend them, and most districts expect them of candidates seeking to teach young adolescents. 

Secondary Teaching Certificate (6-12)

Majors of State-Approved Teacher Education Programs:
     Drama/Theatre                             Science - Chemistry  
     English                                        Science - Physics
     Mathematics                                Social Science - History  
     Music                                          Social Science - Political Science
     Physical Education                       Visual Arts
     Science - Biology           

You will be certified to teach in grades 9-12 without TEDP351 and TEDP352, the middle school courses. After completing these courses, candidates may add a middle school endorsement for grades 6-8 to their certificate.                                                                       

Special Teaching Certificate (K-12)

     Foreign Language - Latin               Physical Education
     Foreign Language - Spanish          Visual Arts

All candidates seeking k-12 certification in these curriculum areas must complete TEDP351 and TEDP352, the middle school courses.
