Courses Taught
English 110: Composition and Argument
English 180:
Introduction to Literature
English 210: Introduction to Creative
Writing
Teaching Interests
I primarily teach writing:
I
teach first-year Composition and Argument course and
also Introduction to Creative Writing. I also teach our
non-major course, Introduction to Literature, which
includes writing about literature. In each course, I
focus on helping students make connections among what
and how we read and what and how we write. My primary
goal is to make students better readers and revisers of
their own writing.
Research Interests
I am
currently working on a novel about two sisters from
South Texas and some essays on parenting. I am also
interested in autobiography, women’s studies,
contemporary fiction, and creative nonfiction.
About Erika Solberg
Right now, my life has three key parts: I teach
part-time, I am home with my two young children
part-time, and I write in whatever tiny cracks of time I
can find. Each part affects the other, and I am
continually finding connections among what I do in the
classroom, what I do at home, and what I do on the page.
