Dinner With a Suffragist |
|
Assignment:
One of the suffragists mentioned in Sisters (your pick) has invited you to dinner at her home. Your assignment will be a lengthy write up of your time with her. This paper will be factually based, and in order to do it, you will have to read a minimum of two long or three short documents written by the suffragist and find some biographical information about her (you must have more print sources than web sources or your paper will lose points). In the paper, describe:
her.
her house.
the meal (what was it, who cooked it, how it was served, etc.).
your discussion (what were the burning topics on her mind that night?).
Choose a date based upon the documents you locate. Choose a topic that is broad enough for me to know that you are a mini-expert on your suffragist and narrow enough for me to know that you've actually read those documents and understand the issues and her own particular take on them. Have fun with this assignment's creative parts--but make sure that the details are period details and that they fit your particular suffragist. See me for ideas about where to find those details.
This paper is due Friday, 19 October 2007 and is worth fifty points.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST hand in this paper to the secretary in the basement of Wallace Hall by 4:00 p.m. She will mark the time she received it and initial it for me. She does not take bribes! If you are past 4:00 p.m., your paper will drop one grade--regardless of the reason (unless you have a doctor's note for the 19th of October 2007).
Note: if you want to do a male suffragist, come talk with me about it first.
