2007 is an historic year for the United States.  It's not the first year the country has had a female presidential candidate, but it is the first time the U.S. has had a viable female presidential candidate.

This historic occasion obviously makes women's history, too.

For this class assignment, please bring in one contemporary newspaper or magazine article about Hillary Rodham Clinton that makes some specific (or disguised!) reference to her gender.  When you find one, you must physically bring it to class, and explain it to your colleagues.  If you think they'll understand better if they have a copy, either print or make enough copies for your classmates, or email me with the url at least one class period ahead of time.

Your job--beyond bringing in the article--will be to explain or decode the reporter's point about gender.  I will ask you why you chose that article, why it interested you, and what you think it says about Clinton as a female candidate.

You may bring this article in any class day that we are not viewing a film or having a guest lecturer--but it must be BEFORE Thanksgiving break

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
