Monmouth College,
a private liberal arts college and member of the Associated Colleges of
the Midwest, seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the rank
of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Educational
Studies to serve in the Elementary Education major. The position will
commence August 2010.
The Department of
Educational Studies currently works with 300 candidates in a K-12
special, elementary and secondary certification program.
Qualifications
include: 3 years K-6 classroom teaching or equivalent experience,
knowledge of the culture of a liberal arts college, and demonstrated
potential for research in field of elementary education or in area of
content specialty. Preference given to candidates with earned doctorate
(Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in teacher education, elementary education, or related
field by time of hire. Other preferred qualifications include areas of
specialty in science, social science, math, the fine arts and/or ELL.
The successful
candidate is expected to contribute to, and eventually take the lead in
further developing the Elementary Education major, participate in
faculty governance, advise students, and teach in the college’s general
education curriculum.

Communication Across the Curriculum

Monmouth
College, a private liberal arts college and member of the Associated
Colleges of the Midwest, seeks applications for a tenure-track position
at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to coordinate our
Communication Across the Curriculum (CAC) Program, a comprehensive
four-year program in which "communication across the curriculum" is
intentionally integrated.
Requires
a terminal degree in Communication, Composition & Rhetoric, English, or
another field combined with extensive experience in
communication/writing.
The
successful candidate will demonstrate the knowledge and experience
necessary to fulfill the following duties: administer and assess the CAC
program; engage faculty in all departments and develop models of
communication appropriate to departmental goals and curriculum; assist
faculty in the development of writing, listening, and speaking
activities for the classroom; and normally teach 12 semester hours per
year, including one introductory communication, one first-year
composition, and one Integrated Studies course (or another course
depending on candidate’s expertise). Experience with writing across the
disciplines and the ability to direct and train student tutors
desirable.

tenure-track, generalist position in Communication Studies beginning

candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative colleague, willing to work
with student groups, who can teach in the area of Communication
Criticism/Qualitative approaches to the discipline, as well as teach
sections of the basic communication course (hybrid), with opportunities
