Computer Assistant
Overview
The Computer Assistant, shown below, is a multi-purpose program
designed to help you configure your desktop, connect to printers,
change your default printer, examine your F: drive space usage, and
access help documentation.

To open the Computer Assistant, click on the Start
button and select Computer Assistant.
Information Tab
The
Information tab, shown below, displays
your logon ID and information about the computer that you are using.

Printing Tab
The
Printing tab, shown below, is used to connect to
printers, remove printers, and to change your default printer.

All network printers are shown on the right side of the
Printing tab under Available Network
Printers.
Printers to which you are currently connected are shown on the
left side of the Printing tab under
Installed Network Printers.
Note: Your default printer is listed in red under
Installed Network Printers. (The default printer is the
printer that automatically appears in the
Print window when you print a document. It is
also the printer that you print to when you click on the
Print
toolbar button in Microsoft Office programs.)
Desktop Tab
The
Desktop tab, shown below, is used to
create desktop shortcuts for network-installed programs, such as
Word or PowerPoint.

Misc Tab
The Misc tab, shown below, is used to find out
how much space you are using on your F: drive. In addition, students
can use this tab to copy their F: drive files from last year to this
year's F: drive space.

Help Tab
The Help tab, shown below, is used to access
help documents that provide step-by-step instructions for performing
tasks with various programs, such as Word, Outlook, and FrontPage.
