Sort Data
- Click on any cell in the column by which you want to sort. (For
example, if you want to sort by state, click on a cell in the State
column.)
- On the Home tab, click on Sort & Filter
and select Sort A to Z or Sort Z to A.

Copy Data Down a Column or Across a Row
- Click on the cell that contains the data that you want to copy.
- Position the mouse pointer over the fill handle until it becomes a
solid cross
and drag the fill handle down the column or across the row.

Create a Number or Date Series
- Type a number or a date in the cell where you want the series to
begin.
- Position the mouse pointer over the fill handle until it becomes a
solid cross
.

- Drag the fill handle down the column or across the row.
- Click on the Auto Fill Options
button
down arrow and select Fill Series.
Split a Column of Data into
Two Columns
- Insert a new column to the right of the column that you
want to split. (To insert the column, right-click on the
letter of the column to the right of the
column that you want to split and select Insert.)
- Highlight the column that you want to split.
(To highlight the column, left-click on its column letter.)
- On the Data tab, click on
Text to Columns.

- Under Original data type,
make sure Delimited is selected.
- Click on the Next button.
- Uncheck the Tab checkbox.
- Put a checkmark in the Space checkbox.

- Click on the Next button.
- Click on the Finish button.
