File Access
File Access is a Web-based
program that enables you to download files from your F: drive to your
computer or to upload files from your computer to your F: drive.
Top
To download a file from your F: drive to your computer:
-
Open your Web browser and go to the Monmouth
College home page (http://www.monm.edu).
- Click on the Campus Quick Links down arrow and select
File Access, shown circled below.

- Click on Student Drive F: or Faculty
/ Staff Drive F:.
- Log in using your Monmouth College user name
and password.
Note: To access files in your My Documents folder, click on the
windows folder and then click on the My Documents
folder.
- Right-click on the file that you want to download and select Save Target As.
- Save the file to the desired location on your computer.

To upload a file from your computer to your F: drive:
- Open your Web browser and go to the Monmouth
College home page (http://www.monm.edu).
- Click on the Campus Quick Links down arrow and select
File Access, shown circled below.

- Click on Student Drive F: or Faculty
/ Staff Drive F:.
- Log in using your Monmouth College user name
and password.
Note: To access files in your My Documents folder, click on the
windows folder and then click on the My Documents
folder.
- Click on the Browse button.
- Select the file that you want to upload.
- Click on the Open button.
- Click on the Upload file button.

To rename a
file on your F: drive:
- Switch to the Details view.
Note: If the icon in the upper right corner of the page says
Select
Column View (as shown below), then you are already in the Details
view.

- Across from the file that you want to rename, click on
Rename. The Rename File window appears.
- In the New Path field, enter the new file name.
Note: Do not change anything
in the file path except the actual filename and be sure to keep the file
extension. For example, if the file path is
\\NTS1\HOME\jdoe\windows\My
Documents\Schedule.doc, then the file
name is Schedule and the file extension is .doc.
- Click on the OK button. The file is renamed.

Note:
When you delete a file, it will be permanently removed
from your F: drive and
will not be recoverable.
To delete a
file from your F: drive:
- Across from the file that you want to delete, click
on Delete. The
Delete File
window appears.
- Click
on the OK button. The file is deleted.

To
copy a file on your F: drive:
- Across from the file that you want to copy, click
on
Copy. The Copy File window appears.
- In
the New Path field, enter the file path, including the file name (e.g.,
\\NTS1\HOME\jdoe\windows\My
Documents\Schedule.doc).

To sort files and folders:
- Switch to the Details view.
Note: If the icon in the upper right corner of the page says
Select
Column View (as shown below), then you are already in the Details
view.

- Click on the Name, Size, Type, or Modified
column heading. The files and folders will be sorted in ascending
order by name, size, type, or modified date.

Note:
You cannot
access the A: or
C: drives using File Access.
To change drives:
- Click on the
Select New
Drive icon. The File Access page appears.

Click on the desired drive.

On the File Access page,
you can view your files and folders in a list (Column view) or a detailed
list (Details view).
To switch back and forth
between the Details view and the Column view, click on the
Select Details View or Select Column View icon.

The Details
view, shown below, displays information about your files and folders, such as name,
size, type, and the last modified date. In addition, you can rename, delete, and
copy your files in the Details view.

The Column
view, shown below, displays a list of your files and folders without
the extra detail.
Note:
The Column view displays up to six columns. To adjust the number of columns, use the up
and down
arrows, shown below.

To move up one level in the
folder hierarchy, click on the Up one folder
icon.
For example,
if you have the My Documents
folder open,
then clicking the
Up one folder icon will take you to
the windows folder, which is the next folder up in
the hierarchy. Clicking the Up one folder icon again will take you to
the F: drive, which is the very top of the folder hierarchy.
