Open a Web Site
Create a Home Page (If Necessary)
Create a New Folder

Open a Web Site

  1. Open FrontPage by clicking on the Start button and selecting Programs - General Programs - Internet - Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003.
  2. Click on the File menu and select Open Site.

  3. In the Site name field, enter the full address of the web that you want to open (e.g., http://personal.monm.edu/jdoe).

  4. Click on the Open button.
  5. On the logon window, in the User name field, enter NT1\ in front of your user name (e.g., NT1\jdoe).
  6. In the Password field, enter your Monmouth College network password.
  7. Click on the OK button.

    Note: The next time that you want to open your web site in FrontPage, click on the File menu, select Recent Sites, and select the site from the list.

Create a Home Page (If Necessary)

If your web site does not have a default.htm or index.htm file, then you'll need to create one.

IMPORTANT! The default.htm or index.htm is the web site's home page. Do not change the name of this file or your site visitors will not be able to access it. (Other pages you create can have whatever file names you wish.)

To create a default.htm or index.htm file:

  1. Click on the New Document New Document Button toolbar button.
  2. In the File name field, enter default or index. (Type the file name in all lowercase letters.)

  3. Click on the Change title button.

  4. Enter a page title for the home page. (The page title displays on the browser window's title bar.)

  5. Click on the OK button.
  6. Click on the Save button.

Create a New Folder

  1. Click on the New Folder button at the top of the Folder List.

  2. Enter a name for the folder.
  3. Press the Enter key.
