Overview

In Moodle, a quiz is an activity module that allows you to design online quizzes consisting of a large variety of question types, such as multiple choice, true-false, and short answer questions. These questions are stored in a course question bank and can be re-used within courses and between courses.

Moodle quizzes can allow multiple attempts. Each attempt is automatically marked, and the teacher can choose whether to give feedback and/or show the correct answers.

Create a Quiz

To add a quiz to your course:

1. Click on the Turn editing on button.
    
2. Click on the desired Add an activity... down arrow and select Quiz.
    
3. In the Name field, enter a name for the quiz.
    
4. In the Introduction field, enter an introduction for the quiz.
   
   Note: The introduction should include instructions for taking the quiz, number of attempts allowed, scoring rules, etc.
    
5. Specify the other quiz options.
   
   Note: For more information about the quiz options, see Adding/updating a quiz.
    
6. Click on the Save Changes button.
    
7. Create and add questions to the quiz.
   
   Note: For more information about adding questions, see Adding questions to a quiz.
    
8. Click on the Save changes and return to course button.

View Quiz Results

To view quiz results:

1. On the course home page, click on the quiz to open it.
    
2. Click on the Results tab.

Override a Student's Quiz Grade

To override a student's quiz grade:

1. On the course home page, click on the quiz to open it.
    
2. Click on the Results tab.
    
3. Click on the grade that you want to override, as shown circled in the example below.

   
    

4. Click on the desired Make comment or override grade link, shown circled below.

   
    

5. Click on the Grade down arrow and select the desired grade.
    

6. Click on the Save button.
    

7. Click on the Close this window button.

Delete a Student's Quiz Attempt

1. On the course home page, click on the quiz to open it.
    
2. Click on the Results tab.
    
3. Put a checkmark next to the attempt that you want to delete, as shown in the example below.

4. Click on the With selected down arrow and select Delete, as shown below.

5. Click on the OK button.
