Upload and Link to a File

When you upload a file to your course, it is stored on the Moodle server. You can rename and delete this file, but you cannot make changes to it. If you need to make changes to a file that you've uploaded, then you must make the changes to the copy of file that's on your computer and then re-upload it.

IMPORTANT! Students will not have access to an uploaded file until you create a link to it on your home page.

To upload a file and create a link to it on your home page:

  1. Click on the Turn editing on button.
  1. Click on the desired Add a resource... down arrow and select Link to a file or web site.
  1. In the Name field, enter a name for the file.

  2. In the Summary field, enter a short description of the file.

  3. Click on the Choose or upload a file button.

Create a Moodle Web Page

If you want to quickly make information available to your students, then you can enter it on a Moodle Web page.

IMPORTANT! Moodle Web pages do not work well when you have more than several paragraphs of text. If you want to enter a lot of text, then consider creating a Web page using FrontPage and linking to it instead. (For more information, please call the Information Systems Center at x2106.)

  1. Click on the Turn editing on button.
  1. Click on the desired Add a resource... down arrow and select Compose a web page.

  2. In the Name field, enter a name for the Web page.

  3. In the Summary field, enter a short description of the Web page.

  4. In the Full text field, enter and format the page content.
  1. Click on the Save changes and return to course button.
