Using Outlook in Terminal Services


Access Public Folders

To access the Outlook public folders in Terminal Services:

  1. Open Outlook.
     
  2. Click on the Folder List Folder List Button button at the bottom of the Navigation pane.
     
  3. Click on the plus signs in front of Public Folders and All Public Folders. The public folders appear (as shown below).

Listen to a Voice Mail Message

You cannot listen to voice mail messages from within a Terminal Services session. Instead, open your Web browser on your personal computer and log on to Outlook Web Access. (After you log on to Outlook Web Access, you can save the voice mail message audio file to your desktop and then play it using your Windows Media or other media player.)

To log on to Outlook Web Access and save the voice mail message to your desktop:

  1. Open Internet Explorer and go to http://email.monm.edu. The Monmouth College Web E-Mail page appears.
     
  2. Click on the Log On to Web E-Mail link. The Enter Network Password window appears.
     
  3. In the User Name field, enter your Monmouth College user name (e.g., jdoe@monm.edu).
     
  4. In the Password field, enter your password.
     
  5. Click on the OK button. Your Inbox appears.
     
  6. Open the message with the voice mail attachment. The message window appears.
     
  7. Right-click on the VoiceMessage VoiceMessage Attachment attachment and select Save Target As. The Save As window appears.
     
  8. Make sure the Save in field is set to Desktop.
     
  9. Click on the Save button. The voice mail message icon appears on the desktop.
     
  10. On the desktop, double-click on the VoiceMessage icon. Window Media Player (or other player program installed on your computer) opens and plays the voice mail message.

Open a Personal Folder

To open a personal folder in Terminal Services:

  1. Open Outlook.
     
  2. Click on the File menu and select Open - Outlook Data File. The Open Outlook Data File window appears.
     
  3. Click on the Look in down arrow and make sure that the location is F:/windows/Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook.
     
  4. Click on the folder that you want to open.
     
  5. Click on the OK button. The personal folder appears in the Folder List and on the Mail pane.
