Getting Started
The Unity voice mail system enables faculty and staff to access
their voice mail through an on-campus
or off-campus phone, Outlook, or Outlook Web
Access (i.e., the Web-based e-mail system).
Many of the routine voice mail
tasks that are performed using the phone (such as changing
passwords, recording greetings, or transferring calls directly
to voice mail) also may be performed
via the Web using the Cisco Unity Assistant,
which is available at
http://ntvoice/ciscopca.

Voice mail accounts are
created and maintained by the Information
Systems Center.
If you are a new faculty or
staff member who does not yet have a voice mail account, then please
call the Information Systems Center at
x2106 to
request one. (Voice mail accounts are usually set up within 24
hours of the initial request.)
Once your account is ready, you'll need to complete the Unity first-time enrollment process
in order to begin using voice mail. (For
more information, see
Complete the First-Time
Enrollment Process.)
IMPORTANT!
Voice mail accounts are associated with phone extensions. If you
change offices, then you'll need to call the
Information Systems Center at x2106 and request to
have your voice mail account transferred to your new phone
extension. Otherwise, your voice mail won't
be available on your new phone.

Before you can start using voice mail, you must complete the
Unity first-time enrollment process. Once this process is
completed, you’ll be listed in the campus directory, able to access
your voice mail through the phone, and able to use the Unity
Assistant.
In order to log on to Unity to complete
the first-time enrollment process, you'll need to enter your
voice mail ID and password.
Your voice mail ID is the same
number as your phone extension, unless you share a phone with
someone, and the default voice mail password is 12345.
Note: During the
first-time enrollment process, you'll be asked to change the default
password to your personal password. When creating a new
password, keep in mind that voice mail passwords must be at least
three digits in length, and passwords with patterns such as 123,
111, 222, or 333 are not accepted by Unity.
To complete the first-time enrollment process:
- Dial the Unity internal phone number 2222 (from a
campus phone) or dial the Unity external phone
number (309) 457-2222 (from an off-campus phone).
- As
soon as you hear the Monmouth College greeting ("Hello, you have
reached Monmouth College..."), press the star
( * ) key and, when
prompted, enter your voice mail ID and password
(the password for the first time you log on is 12345). You are logged on to
Unity.
- At
the prompts, record your name, a personal greeting (if desired), and
specify a new password.
- When you have
completed the first-time enrollment process, exit Unity
by pressing the star key ( *
) until you are backed out of the system and hang up.
- Test your voice
mail by sending a voice mail message to yourself and
then
listening to it from
both your office phone and an off-campus phone.
(For more information, see
Send a Message.)
