Lock Your Computer

When you lock your computer, a security screen displays that prevents other people from using your computer. Once your computer is locked, you must enter your password to unlock it.

To lock your computer:

  1. Press the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time.
     
  2. Click on the Lock Computer button.

Turn On a Password-Protected Screen Saver

A password-protected screen saver locks your computer after it has been idle for a specified number of minutes.

To turn on a password-protected screen saver:

  1. Right-click on the desktop and select Properties.
     
  2. Click on the Screen Saver tab.
     
  3. In the Screen Saver area, check the Password protected checkbox.
     
  4. In the Wait: minutes field, specify the number of minutes that the computer must be idle before the screen saver automatically turns on.
     
  5. Click on the OK button.
