Equations

Display Greek Letters in the Equation Editor

  1. On the Equation Tools Design tab, click on the Symbols More down arrow.

  1. Click on the down arrow next to Basic Math and select Greek Letters.

Create an X-Bar

  1. On the Insert tab, click on Equation.

  1. On the Equation Tools Design tab, click on the Accent down arrow and select Bar.

  1. Click in the box underneath the bar and type an x.

X-Bar

Add an AutoText Entry for an X-Bar

AutoText allows you to quickly add text, symbols, logos, or other elements to a document simply by typing their names (which you define) and pressing the Enter key.

To add an AutoText entry for an x-bar:

  1. Create the x-bar.
  2. Highlight the x-bar Highlighted X-Bar.
  1. Click on the MS Office MS Office Button button.
  2. Click on the Word Options button.

  1. Click on Proofing.

  1. Click on the AutoCorrect Options button.

AutoCorrect Options

  1. In the Replace field, enter the text that you want to type to insert the x-bar symbol.

  1. Click on the Add button.

  1. Click on the OK button. When you type the text you specified in step 7 and press the Enter key, the x-bar will appear.
