Display Greek Letters in the Equation Editor
- On the Equation Tools Design tab, click on the Symbols More
down arrow.

- Click on the down arrow next to Basic Math and select Greek
Letters.

Create an X-Bar
- On the Insert tab, click on Equation.

- On the Equation Tools Design tab, click on the
Accent down arrow and select Bar.

- Click in the box underneath the bar and type an x.

Add an AutoText Entry for an X-Bar
AutoText allows you to quickly add text, symbols, logos, or other
elements to a document simply by typing their names (which you define) and
pressing the Enter key.
To add an AutoText entry for an x-bar:
- Create the x-bar.
- Highlight the x-bar
.
- Click on the MS Office
button.
- Click on the Word Options button.

- Click on Proofing.

- Click on the AutoCorrect Options button.

- In the Replace field, enter the text that you want to type to
insert the x-bar symbol.

- Click on the Add button.

- Click on the OK button. When you type the text you specified
in step 7 and press the Enter key, the x-bar will appear.
