Printing and Copying
Overview
When you log on to a lab computer, your default printer automatically
changes to that lab's printer. (For example, if you log on to a computer
in Trotter lab, then your default printer will change to the Trotter lab
printer.)
IMPORTANT! If you are a faculty or staff member, then you will
need to change your default printer back to your office printer when you
return to your office.
Change Your Default Printer
- On the desktop, click on the
Start button and select
Computer Assistant.
- Click on the
Printing tab.
- Under
Installed Network Printers, click on the printer that you
want to use for your default printer.
Note: If the
printer that you want to use is not listed under
Installed Network Printers, then double-click on it in the
Available Network Printers list on the right side of the window.
- Click on the Make Default button.
Connect to a Printer
Faculty and staff may print to any of the networked printers on campus.
Students may only print to the lab printers and to the library public
printer. To connect to a printer:
- On the desktop, click on the
Start button and select
Computer Assistant.
- Click on the
Printing tab.
- Under
Available Network Printers, double-click on the printer to
which you want to connect. The computer appears in the Installed
Network Printers
list.
Turn Off Duplex Printing
- On the Print window, click on the
Properties button.

- Click on the Finishing tab (for HP printers) or
the Basic tab (for Kyocera copiers).
- Uncheck the Print on both sides
checkbox.
- Click on the OK button.
Turn Off Grayscale Printing (HP Color Printers)
- On the Print window, click on the
Properties button.

- Click on the Color tab.
- Uncheck the Print in Grayscale checkbox.
- Click on the OK button.
Send a Scan from a Kyocera Copier to an E-Mail
Address
- Place the document in the copier on the glass or in the document
feeder.
- Press the Send button.

- Press E-Mail Addr Entry.

- Press E-mail Address.

- Use the keypad to enter the email address (e.g., jdoe@monm.edu).
- Press OK.

- Press the Start button.

Send a Scan from a Kyocera Copier to a Folder
- Press the Send button.

- Press Folder Path Entry.

- Select SMB.

- Press Host Name and then use the keypad to
enter
nts1 (for faculty and staff) or nts2
(for students).

- Press Path and then use the keypad to enter
\home\[your user name] (e.g., \home\jdoe).

- Press Login User Name and use the keypad to
enter your user name.
Note: The user name and password must be the user name and
password used to log into the location specified in the Path
field. So, for example, if you want to send a scan to someone else’s
computer, you will need to enter to have that person enter his/her
user name and password.
- Press Login Password and use the keypad to
enter your password.
- Press Connection Test. The message that appears
should say
Connected. If the message says, “Cannot connect,”
then re-check to make sure all of the information you entered is
correct and press
Connection Test again.
- Press OK.
- Press the Start button.
Note: To locate the scan on your
computer, double-click the My Computer icon on your
desktop and then double-click on your F: drive.
