How to Register Advisees
To register advisees in WebAdvisor:
- Open Internet Explorer and go to the Monmouth College home
page.
- Click on the Registrar link at the bottom of the page, as
shown circled below. The Registrar's page appears.

- Click on the Faculty link, as shown circled below.
The WebAdvisor main page appears.

- Click on the Log In link, as shown circled below.
(The page will look slightly different.) The Log In page appears.

- In the User ID field, enter your Monmouth College
user name.
- In the Password field, enter your Monmouth College password
(not the last four digits of your social security number).
- Click on the Submit button.
- Click on the Faculty link, as shown below.
The WebAdvisor for Faculty Menu page appears.

- Under Faculty Information, click on the My Advisees
link, as shown circled below. A list of your advisees appears.

- If you know the course and section numbers of the class
for which you want to register your advisee, then click on the down
arrow next to the advisee's name and select Express Registration.
Note: If you want
to search for a section, click on the down arrow next to the advisee's
name and select Search and Register.
Note: You will only be able to work with one advisee at a time. Make
sure that the cell next to the student name is blank before moving to
begin registration for another advisee.
- Either click on the Submit button at the bottom of
the page or click the cursor on a blank area of the page and press the
Enter key. (The Enter key will not work if an option is
highlighted.) The Express Registration page appears, as shown
below.

- Leave the Synonym field blank (this field is not
used for our registration process).
- Click on the Subject down arrow and select the subject.
- In the Course Number and Section Number fields, enter
the course and section numbers.
- Click on the Term down arrow and select the term. (There may
be times when you will be registering for more than one term.) An
example of completed entry is shown below.

- Click on the Submit button or click the cursor on
a blank area of the page and press the Enter key. (The Enter
key will not work if an option is highlighted.) The Register and Drop
Sections page appears, as shown below.

- Click on the Action down arrow next to the course
and select Register.
Note: If you have several courses listed, then you can click on
the Action for ALL Pref. Sections down arrow and select
Register. Please note that if there is something preventing
registration for even one course in a group (e.g., if the section is
closed), then none of the registrations will go through. You would have
to waitlist the student for the closed section since the same action
(registration) could not be applied to all of the choices.
- Click on the Submit button or click the cursor on a blank
area of the page and press the Enter key. (The Enter key
will not work if an option is highlighted.)
Note: You can simultaneously drop and add a course much like you
used to swap courses in CARS.
- If the class is not closed, there is not a time conflict, all
prerequisites have been meet, etc. then the registration will be
processed, as shown below.

If a class is closed, then
you will have the option of placing the student on a waitlist. Waitlist
information is displayed at the bottom of the page, as shown below.

Additional Notes
- To view your advisee's schedule, go
back to My Advisees, click on the down arrow next to the name of
the student whose schedule you want to view, and select View Student
Schedule.
- Eventually, we will get the
superfluous fields such as Synonyms and CEUs removed. Just
ignore them for now.
- You will not be able to register your
advisees until they become eligible to register given the registration
start times.
- Jill, Lisa, and I will still need to
move students from waitlists and override other registration
restrictions from our side of Datatel. Instructors will need to email us
as has been done in the past.
Questions??? Call the Registrar's Office (2326) and we will do all we
can to help you.
