Saving and Backing Up Files

Students, faculty, and staff have their own personal and private space on the F: drive for file storage.

When you are using a MC lab or office computer, you should save your files in your My Documents folder on the F: drive. (This is the default save to location for programs on the network, such as Word.)

My Documents Folder

When you save your files in your My Documents folder on the F: drive, they will be backed up each night, and you will be able to access them from any computer that has Internet access. (For more information, see F: Drive.)

IMPORTANT! Although the F: drive is backed up, you should always keep at least two copies of important files in different locations for safekeeping. For example, use your My Documents folder on the F: drive for primary file storage, and keep additional backup copies of important files on a USB drive or external hard drive. You should back up important files every time you work on them!

IMPORTANT! DO NOT save important files on the G drive because it is NOT backed up.
