Turn On Automatic Updates

Windows 7
Windows Vista
Windows XP

Windows 7

  1. Log in to the Administrator account.
  2. Click the Start button.
  3. In the search box, type automatic updates.
  4. In the search results list, click Turn automatic updating on or off.
  5. Under Important updates, click the down arrow, select Install updates automatically.
  6. Under Recommended updates, put a checkmark in the Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates checkbox.
  7. Click the OK button.

Windows Vista

  1. Log in to the Administrator account.
  2. Click the Start button and select Control Panel.
  3. Click Security.
  4. Under Security Center, click Turn automatic updating on or off.
  5. Click Install updates automatically and specify the day and time when you want the updates downloaded and installed.
  6. Click the OK button.

Windows XP

  1. Log in to the Administrator account.
  2. Click the Start button and select Control Panel.
  3. In the left pane, click Switch to Classic View .
  4. Double-click Automatic Updates.
  5. Click the Automatic button and specify the day and time when you want updates downloaded and installed.
  6. Click the OK button.
