Turn Off File and Print Sharing

Windows 7

1. Log in to the Administrator account.
2. Click the Start button.
3. In the search box, type network and sharing.
4. In the search results list, click Network and Sharing Center.
5. On the left, click Change advanced sharing settings.
6. Click the down arrow across from the network for which you want to disable file and print sharing.
7. Click the Save changes button.

Windows Vista

1. Log in to the Administrator account.
2. Click the Start button and select Control Panel.
3. Click Network and Internet.
4. Click Network and Sharing Center.
5. Under Sharing and Discovery, across from File sharing, click the On button.
6. Click the Turn off file sharing button.
7. Click the Apply button.
8. Repeat steps 5 - 7 to turn off public folder sharing and media sharing.

Windows XP

1. Log in to the Administrator account.
2. Click the Start button and select Control Panel.
3. In the left pane, click Switch to Classic View.
4. Double-click Network Connections.
5. Right-click Local Area Connection and select Properties.
6. Uncheck the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks checkbox.
7. Click the OK button.
