Windows XP

1. Open the Control Panel in classic view and double-click on Network Connections.
   
2. Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties.
   
3. Uncheck the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks checkbox.
   
4. Click on the OK button.

Windows Vista

1. Open the Control Panel in classic view and double-click on Network and Sharing.
2. Under File Sharing, click on Turn off file sharing.
3. Click on the Apply button.
