Computing the Library
Computer Lab
The Dorothy Peterson Dahl '40 Computer Center, found on the Lower Level, is a networked computer lab with 24 workstations and a laser printer. This lab is open during all regular Library hours.
Library laptops
A number of Gateway laptop computers are available at the Circulation Desk. This service was established in the fall of 2002 to give our users a more flexible computing experience. Combined with the wireless network, laptops allow for individual and group computing anywhere in the building.
- Policies: before borrowing a laptop, patrons should read and understand our Laptop Computer Policies, which covers all procedures, acceptable use policies, and liability information. Patrons must complete an application form at the Circulation Desk.
- Access and availability: only Monmouth College students, faculty and staff are permitted to check out laptops. These machines circulate for three hours, and must remain in the building at all times. At peak hours (between 6:00 and 10:00pm), a waitlist is often in effect. As long as patrons are waiting for laptops, renewals will not be permitted. Also be aware that classes being held in the Library may use laptops, thus restricting their availability to individual patrons. Your patience is appreciated.
Patron laptops
Hewes Library is home to a wireless network that supports most wireless laptop computer connections.
