Special Collections (Upper Level)

The Special Collection features many titles of historical and regional value. Also featured are copies of works signed by authors who have visited the campus. Special Collections is a closed collection, and may be accessed only under staff supervision. These materials are not currently included in the online catalog.

Monmouth College Archives (Upper Level)

The Monmouth College Archives (formerly known as Monmouthiana) contains materials representing the past and present of Monmouth College. In addition to written records of all kinds, the Archives includes yearbooks, photographs and other materials.

The MC Archives is not open for public browsing. Anyone interested in examining archival materials may peruse the online accession register, and complete two forms, which are available at the Circulation Desk:

  • Application for use of the Monmouth College Archives: this application must be completed in advance of any use of archival materials. It needs to be filled out only once.
  • Request for usage of materials from the Monmouth College Archives: one request form must be completed for each box or folder requested. Use the accession register (link above) to identify which collection you are interested in.

Although this collection is located in the Library, it is maintained by the Monmouth College History Department, under the aegis of Associate Professor of History Stacy Cordery. Questions about this collection may be directed to Dr. Cordery at (309) 457-2372 or stacy@monm.edu.

Len G. Everett Galleries (Upper Level)

"The Len G. Everett Art Gallery program serves the community through an ongoing exhibition program featuring the works of contemporary artists and the periodic display of the Permanent Collection..." -- from The James Christie Shields '49 Collection of Art and Antiquities, a pamphlet available at the Circulation Desk.

Gallery 103 houses the James Christie Shields '49 Collection of Arts and Antiquities. Gallery 104 plays host to the works of Monmouth students and faculty, as well as the exhibitions of visiting artists.
