Locating a specific book

To locate a book in Hewes Library that you know specifics about, you can follow the instructions listed below:

Start at the Hewes Library Homepage
The library's catalog can be accessed from the Quicklinks section on the right-hand side, called Hewes Library Online Catalog or from the Catalogs page on the left-hand side.
When the main search screen in the library's catalog appears, you have several ways to search. A General Keyword search will look for the information in all of the fields of an item's record. Author Keyword searches will only look for information in the author's field, such as a personal name, while the Title Keyword search will look for your keywords in the title section of an item's record. Subject Keyword searches will look for the information you have entered in the subject heading fields of all item's records.
Most people begin with General, Author, or Title searches. If you know the author of the work, enter the information and select Author from the drop-down menu. If you know the Title information, enter the keywords and instead select Title from the drop-down menu.
Once you press Go, the catalog will display the results of your search. Your short results screen will appear and you can select the item that you were looking for. Call numbers appear below the items. By clicking on the title information link provided, you can access detailed information about the item.
