Greensburg / Kiowa County Library Relief Fund Can you help?
All of you have seen the images of the devastating tornado that destroyed the community of Greensburg, Kansas on May 4. You may also be aware that Greensburg, Kansas, was the hometown of Monmouth College’s assistant professor, Janeve West, whose grandmother’s home was destroyed, along with six other homes belonging to other family members. Included in the devastation was the Kiowa County Library in Greensburg which was also completely destroyed. In years past Janeve’s grandfather had served as president of the county library board.
The community is not prepared to receive any books for a library at present, but relief funds for rebuilding and restocking the library are being collected by the Kansas Library Association. With Janeve’s encouragement, Hewes Library and Warren County Library are soliciting funds to help with this relief effort. If you’d like to make a contribution to the Greensburg/Kiowa County Library Relief Fund, please send a check made out to the KLA Educational Foundation to Rick Sayre, Library Director, Hewes Library. Initially we would like to collect funds and send them by the end of May, but will accept donations after this and submit them at least once per month.
Thank you to all of you who have already made a donation to the relief efforts of Greensburg, Kansas!
