James Betts is Professor of Music and Educational Studies at Monmouth College. Dr. Betts received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Iowa, and bachelor's and master's degrees in music from Southern Illinois University.

In addition to performing in classical and jazz groups on several instruments, Dr. Betts is active in the fields of computer music and sound, video production, and Web design, and holds a Master of Science degree from Western Illinois University in Instructional Technology and Telecommunications.
