carolyns@monm.eduCarolyn Suda is Director of String
Activities at Monmouth College and founder of the Monmouth String
Ensemble. An active member of the American String Teachers
Association and the Suzuki Association of the Americas, Ms. Suda has
served as clinician at numerous cello workshops in the United
States, Australia, and New Zealand. She also serves as adjunct
faculty at Knox College.
Ms. Suda is currently principal
cellist of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony, where she has appeared as
soloist in the Saint-Saens Concerto, Lalo Concerto, and Beethoven
Triple Concerto. As a member of the Monmouth Trio and KGS Trio, she
is a frequent faculty recitalist, including performances atthe
University of Barcelona and Reus Conservatory of Music in Spain. As
a member of the Emory Piano Trio, she has performed at the Spoleto
Festival, Monadnock Music Festival, and colleges throughout the
Southeast. She has served as principal cellist for the Atlanta
Opera, Atlanta Pops, Atlanta Choral Guild, and guest principal for
the Boston Ballet, The American Ballet Theater, and the Chattanooga
Symphony. Her teachers include Leopold Teraspulsky, Robert Marsh,
Tanya Carey, and master class study with Janos Starker and Bernard
Greenhouse.
Carolyn Suda holds a B.A. in music
and theater from Florida State University (Magna Cum Laude) and an
M.A. in cello performance and pedagogy from Western Illinois
University. Ms. Suda has placed students at the Peabody
Conservatory, the Cincinnati Conservatory, the Blair School of Music
at Vanderbilt University, and the University of Illinois. |
