Boren Scholarships and Fellowships provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to add an important international and language component to their educations. We focus on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad. Central College Abroad Vance Scholarship ($1000 scholarship) for students participating in the Central College Program in Granada, Spain. Freeman Foundation awards administered by the Institute of International Educatio For students interested in studying in East or South Asia) Gilman International Scholarship (for students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2-year or 4-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide) Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship (Award is tenable in any country where there is a rotary club.) $11,000 for three months and $16,000 for six months. Funds are intended to offset costs associated with round-trip transportation, language training, and homestay living arrangements. Applications are considered for candidates interested in studying Arabic, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, and Swedish. ($1600 scholarship).
Criteria: good academic standing; enrollment in a Midwestern
university or college (IL, IN, MI, WI); superior achievement in
