Research or Other Interests:
When not teaching at Monmouth College, Professor Cates consults to business managers about strategy development and human resources management.  A certified mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution (founded by the Chicago Bar Association), Professor Cates uses mediation and facilitation techniques to assist executives in the strategic planning process and to consult to task forces.  She also teaches in executive education courses at the Kellogg School of Management and other organizations in the areas of organizational development, negotiations, strategic planning, human resources management, and related topics.  Businesses served range from multi-national corporations to local not-for-profit associations.

Research or Other Interests:
Professor Haryanto’s primary research interests are corporate governance, cross-border acquisitions, and entrepreneurship/privately-held firms. Previously taught at the University of Illinois, where he won a teaching award, Professor Haryanto brings a wealth of real-world experiences into the classroom. He was a former American Express executive in Asia and a founder of his private consulting firm in Indonesia. He also taught Financial Policy & Strategy in the MBA and Executive MBA programs at Prasetiya Mulya Graduate School of Management in Jakarta.

Rod Lemon

     For the last 25 years, Dr. Lemon has specialized on energy issues. 
He has been credited with providing the intellectual legwork for the
Federal Government's rulemakings that deregulated the natural gas
and electricity industries in the United States.  He is also interested
in architectural design.

Ken McMillanProfessor McMillan~
Associate Professor

B.S. and M.S. from the University of Illinois in Agricultural Economics, specializing in Public Economic Policy.  He has also completed all coursework and comprehensive exams for the Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics.

International Trade and Finance, Comparative Economic Systems, Public Finance and Taxation, Economics Principles, Marketing Principles, and Business Writing and Professionalism.

Research or Other Interests

A native of nearby Bushnell, Professor McMillan was National President of the Future Farmers of America.  He has been a lobbyist and also worked as an aide to a Congressman (Republican Whip of the U.S. House of Representatives). Professor McMillan was Chief Speechwriter for the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and served in the Illinois State Senate for two terms (six years).  He was a Candidate for Congress and was Assistant to the President of the Illinois Farm Bureau. McMillan was also Corporate Secretary for the Country Companies Insurance Group, Executive Director of Information for the Illinois Farm Bureau, was Founding President and a current Director of the Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation, and is finishing his tenth year teaching at Monmouth College.
