Artifact:
Ultimate_Frisbee_Story.pdf (COMM 116: Television
Workshop).
My Ultimate Frisbee story was composed
in Chris Goble’s COMM 116: Television Workshop course. I filmed a
friendly Friday afternoon game of ultimate Frisbee which was being
held in the quad between the Stockdale Center and the Huff Athletic
Center on the Monmouth College campus. The story covered my ability
to capture film sequence as a story with focuses on individuals and
team shots. This video can be downloaded and viewed by anyone. Since
this story covered sports with an interview with Monmouth College
alumni Ian Van Anden, employers and coaches may feel free to access
this file and critique my sport writing ability.
This was one of
my most memorable stories I have covered in a few of Professor
Goble’s courses because the story covers ideas of communication
through a thought process of sports and athletics.
Artifact:
Policy-Debate-Briefs.pdf (COMM 233: Advanced
Public Speaking).
This specific
artifact explains how my skills and abilities in verbal
communication can be linked to supporting evidence portrayed in the
Bible. During COMM 233 Advanced Public Speaking course with
Professor Benita Dilley, my partner Samantha Dwyer and I wrote
policy debate briefs in the position of the negative side of
fighting for same-sex marriages. Samantha and I read several verses
from the book of Genesis and found an article on same-sex partners.
The most important skill I was able to construct through this
artifact was my ability to debate on a topic I don’t particularly
enjoy debating about. I was able to defend the negative side of
same-sex marriages as I applied an emotional touch of conflict with
the other people I was debating against. This artifact shows my
abilities to construct debating information and put it into content
suitable for an adult conversation.
