My Philosophy of Education...
![]()
I believe that the role of the teacher is very crucial to one's learning. My philosophy of education holds my ideas and believes about the importance of schools, as well as, the role of the teacher in children's lives.
Schools sometimes are thought of to be a place for children to feel comfortable with their surroundings, a place for children to learn how to use their social skills, and a place that challenges one's mind on different aspects of learning. A school should be a place that meets everyone's needs no matter rich or poor, intelligent or a intellectually challenged. This is why I believe that a school therefore should be run in such a manner that it challenges each student individually. Not everyone is at the same point in their life mentally or physically for that matter. This is why I believe that a school should serve as a tutor for those students who may need a little extra help and be willing to find more challenging assignments for those in need of them. I don't believe either that there is a thing called average student because each child has their own special talent, but most of the time it remains hidden and/or undiscovered. This is where the teacher comes in, but first one must visit the classroom.
The classroom is a powerful learning environment for a child. It is the teachers place to teach. It is designed to be open and flexible while meeting a child's needs properly. It is also an environment in which students will feel comfortable enough to learn, as well as feel safe. Sometimes schools are the only place for a child to feel not at-risk, or are the only place where they feel like their 1 word is like a thousand words. Many times children look up to their teacher as their only role model, one who can guide them to new discoveries.
Therefore, I believe that it is the teachers responsibility is to motivate their students to want to learn and want to discover new things. A teacher's job is to get the children to go outside of the ordinary to experience new things. As a teacher I plan to have my classroom centered around hands-on activities. I think this is the best way for any child to learn. I also hope to have the children feel free to be as creative with their minds as they want. Creativity is also a powerful tool in learning. Your mind is a magnificent discovery in itself and to try and stop your mind from venturing into unknown territory is a terrible thing.
