Michelle Tuley's Educational Philosophy

Preparing to teach is a very exciting process that I just can’t wait to start. I feel that my purpose in life is to enlighten and enrich students lives to learning. I , personally, was NOT provided with a good education when I was in elementary school. I never want any of my students to have to experience the frustration I experienced when I was younger. It is not about being a nice teacher and giving in to the students wishes, but about being a sufficient, helping, and caring teacher to the students personal educational needs. I want my students to walk out of my classroom and have the same feeling that I had when I walked out of Professor Vivian classroom. I want the students to want to learn. Knowing that I will someday do those things for the students makes my reason to prepare for teaching more meaningful. I want to make a difference and knowing I was a part of that difference makes my days more pleasant to wake up to.

Teaching may seem like a scary experience for some, but for me it will be exciting, like when you are getting ready to open up presents for Christmas. I am expecting to enjoy every minute of being in the classroom with the students.   I want to have each student walking out of the classroom to have learned at least one new idea, fact, or thing every school day. I also want my lessons drawn to attract students to want to participate or take part in the lessons that I will teach. I understand that some lessons might not go over well with some students, but if I, as a teacher, learn or adjust to changes that might need to be made will help with my future teachings. I believe that this experience will be a lot of trial and error to find my place as a teacher.
