My Mini Biography

    My name is Tanya Moore.  I am from Galesburg, Illinois.  I grew up around the Galesburg-Monmouth area.  My ethnic background is Mexican-American.  I feel that I am lucky because I have always lived with my best friend, my mother.  

    I graduated from Galesburg High School in 1998.  I have known since my junior year in high school that I have wanted to be a teacher.  I am the first in my family to graduate from high school and to attend college.       

    I am currently a senior at Monmouth College.  In May of 2002 I will have my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.  I will be certified Kindergarten through 8th grade.  

    Outside of classes and studying I can be found working at Dairy Queen.  I have worked at Dairy Queen for a total of 5 1/2 years.  I also spend my spare time tutoring a third grade student.  We work together in reading, writing, and other academic areas.  

    I love being around children.  I feel that we learn just as much from children just as they learn from us.      

    I really enjoy being around people.  I am what is sometimes referred to as a "people person".  I like to spend as much time as I can with friends and family.  I am always open to making new friends.
