Birds of Illinois:
Feathered Friends

Bulletin Board used during unit

This board became the central place students would come to when looking up information about the birds we were studying.  Each card has the birds name, egg size, nest size, feet shape, beak shape, and age expectancy.

The Field Trip to Wildlife Prairie Park

At Wildlife Prairie Park there was a Bald Eagle nest the student could try out for size.  The students found this nest to be quite comfortable.

Student looking at deer and bison.

Wildlife Prairie Park provided us with a guided tour of the park.  The students really enjoyed hearing the personal stories of our guide about her working with the animals.
The students enjoyed their lunches at the same time as the bison and deer.  Although they didn't seem as interested in the bison and deer eating as they did the camera.

Taking a break to eat lunch.

Students on the big slide at Wildlife Prairie Park.

On the way home from Wildlife Prairie Park we stopped at a local ice cream shop for a nice cold drink.
